News on 3 "new players" in supply chain

Amazon's freight brokerage platform has been in testing since last year for approved carriers to send shipments among five East Coast states. (Sources CNBC)  "This service, intended to better utilize our freight network, has been around in various forms for quite some time" Amazon said in a statement.
Uber's freight re-launches its platform – growth seems to be slowing – most likely caused by slower adoption by the trucking community.
XPO Logistics results:  (one of the largest logistics providers in North America)
  • 1.7% decline in quarterly revenue to $4.12 billion
  • Income down 35.8% to $43 million
  • Spent $1.2 billion on buying its own stock – quite a surprise in a company that plans to grow through acquisitions
